In this week’s video tutorial we’ll be learning about how you can combine the slice and cap holes modifier in order to create cross sections of your 3d models. Remember that you’ll need to use closed geometry in order for this technique to work properly!

Even though this is simple, it is great for showing a useful way to combine two modifiers. Thanks!!!

Hi Alejo,
Could you explain how this model was made? You lathed a spline to create the main shell, then you added an edit poly modifier, in which you created inner details inside the engine?
If so, is there any way to create the inner details as a separate object, then add it to the Lathe object and apply slice, whilst keeping the editable stack properties of the Lathe. If you were to add them together as one editable poly, you’d lose the stack.

Hi Alejo,
I have a 3D model of a building, it’s made of multiple objects. I would like to apply that slice tool on that group of objects to vreate a cross section of my building.
I know how to do this with the camera but slice is better, it can do a cap hole…!
I tried grouping the objects but it doesn’t work…
Thanks,
ps: congratulations for the site… most complete tutorials… well done!
