3dTotal.com | The 3d Artist’s Homepage 3dTotal was where I got started with 3d graphics and will always be one of my favorite sites on the web. Their site has a treasure chest of free 3d tutorials for all variety of skills and software, plus their texture CDs are indispensable in my toolset. Tom and his gang are really nice and I high five them whenever we meet. Scriptspot.com | 3d Scripting Community ScriptSpot is a healthy collection of scripts and resources for 3dsMax, though they have content for other software packages also. I’ve used them from time to time when I’m feeling that my production is getting routine and I’d like new tools without having to pay a lot of money. Check them out from time to time. the-blueprints.com | Free, High-Resolution Blueprints Library The-Blueprints.com is a great place to get started even if you don’t know what kind of project you want to take on. Their library of orthogonal blueprints will get you on the right track. They have high-resolution orthogonals of people, vehicles, military equipment, starships, and a whole bunch more. World-Machine.com | Free Heightfield Terrain Generator World-machine is a heightfields generator that allows you to naturally…

The demo CD had me so excited I couldn’t wait to open it up and get started. While I’m a fan of all aspects of visualization, animation, and video game creation, I’ve specialized in the mental ray renderer and MaxScript. My loving parents suggested that I shouldn’t pursue 3d graphics as a career but instead to do it as a serious hobby and do something that has more stable income. While I encourage people to pursue their passion, I took their advice and went to Carnegie Mellon University to study business. I earned a BS/BA with a dual focus in quantitative finance and entrepreneurship, with a minor in economics. Unfortunately, my graduation was slated for mid-2008 and about a year earlier our class was predicting the financial meltdown. It was about that time I started this website as a fall-back plan in case the financial industry didn’t survive. It turns out that most of…
