This week’s Movie is about how you can place rivets onto your objects in 3d Studio Max. Off the top of my head, there are four different techniques you can use. You can
- position them manually using the 3dsMax gizmos,
- use the Normal Align tool,
- use the Array tool, or
- if the situation is really complicated, you can use the Spacing tool.
I go through all of these tools in this week’s Monday Movie. As always, be sure to leave comments on the post. Let me know if there’s anything that you’d like me to change about the format, or if you have questions that you’d like answered in the form of a video!

There’s even a faster better way—use the Placement Tool Script (aka paint hair floater)

Use it all the time!

Somewhat off the topic, I think it would be nice to have a forum here that we all can use to exchange ideas experience and tutorials and general talk about general 3d things.

Sounds like a good idea, however there’s already tons of max forums out there…..maybe a forum here with just one heading would be cool though!
